The Taiwan Studies Program (TSP) of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) aims to support top international universities in dedicating efforts towards Taiwan studies and enhancing the level of research mechanisms. Partnering universities can appoint endowed chairs to integrate Taiwan studies scholars and researchers, expand regional inter-university research communities; or appoint early career professors to offer Taiwan studies courses and establish research promotion mechanisms; or have veteran scholars serve as research mentors to guide the direction of Taiwan studies and develop potential networks.

Endowed Chair of Taiwan Studies
TSP supports top universities in appointing endowed chair professor in top universities to facilitate integration and enhancement of Taiwan studies research areas. Scholars appointed to endowed chairs shall plan Taiwan studies programs within the university, develop local or regional Taiwan studies academic communities, recruit full-time researchers, and plan collaborative research with local universities in Taiwan.
Early Career Scholar (Professor) of Taiwan Studies
TSP supports top universities in appointing or recruiting full-time professors with academic potential to enhance the university's Taiwan research mechanisms and facilitate more extensive research collaborations by making use of institutional resources. The recipient scholar shall offer Taiwan studies-related courses, implement Taiwan studies-related plans, integrate the university's Taiwan studies capabilities, promote joint research or academic publications with local universities in Taiwan, and cooperate with relevant projects of national ministries and commissions.
Mentorship of Taiwan Studies
TSP provides funding for veteran professors or researchers with outstanding academic achievements related to East Asian and Taiwan studies to guide the development direction of Taiwan studies. The work shall include (but is not limited to) instructing young scholars, organizing academic conferences and community activities on Taiwan studies, and facilitating regional or international academic cooperation channels.
