Early Career Scholar (Professor) of Taiwan Studies
Description
1. TSP supports top universities in appointing or recruiting full-time professors with academic potential to enhance the university's Taiwan research mechanisms and facilitate more extensive research collaborations by making use of institutional resources. TSP contributes to the recipient scholar's annual salary for a maximum of 5 years.
2. The proposal shall elaborate on the recommended scholar's capabilities in teaching and research related to Taiwan studies, the proportion of time devoted to this project, and plans for follow-up tenured appointment or other long-term contracts after the collaboration period ends.
3. Recipient institutions have the liberty to decide whether to retain recipient scholars after the end of the sponsorship.
Funding Schemes and Funds Remittance
1. The maximum grant term is 5 years, with an annual cap of US$ 120,000 (or the equivalent in local fiat currency).
2. The proportion of the salary TSP pays will depend on the proportionate role of Taiwan-oriented research and teaching in the recipient scholar's portfolio.
3. The amount of funding depends on the project submitted by the applicant institution and the decision of the academic review committee.
Eligibility
1. Department/schools at top universities:
(1) Universities from all countries (with a priority for Europe and the US) that have ranked within the top 1,000 in the QS World University Rankings or the top 500 in the field of humanities and social sciences in the recent three years are eligible to apply.
(2) Other research institutions deemed eligible by this program are also welcome to apply. Institutions with (but not limited to) expertise in Chinese studies, East Asian studies, politics, history, culture, and other Taiwan-related humanities and social science fields are highly preferred.

2. TSP's academic review committee may grant eligibility on a case by case basis to an institution that does not fit the above criteria.
Application Timeline
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applying organizations shall be notified individually of the review results within 3 months of the receipt of the application. If necessary, extensions may be granted.
Application Materials
1. Application form (include Candidate or job description, Teaching and research proposal, Information on the applying organization, Collaborative project, Budget proposal)
2. Curriculum vitae of the principal investigator
3. Salary reference information for the candidate (or equivalent level) provided by the applying organization.
4. Curriculum Vitae of Candidates being recruited for the positions, if available or tentative job opening advertisement.
(If a department has yet to appoint faculty, the department should explain its plan for recruiting candidates for the position and how the to-be-created position will contribute to the achievement of specific goals.)
5. Letter of consent from the dean of the college regarding the establishment of the course.
6. Other documents or information that would be helpful in the review process.

Review Procedure
Applicant institutions should submit grant applications for full-time professor positions. After the academic review committee approves the application, the TSP will provide an Agreement for the recipient institution.
